It feels official now.
It feel official now.
I received my exhibition agreement from The Morris Graves Museum of Art with all the important signatures on it, and in the current issue of The Palette magazine there is a mention of the show in the Museum Exhibitions schedule section. Since, I am a procrastinator, and have saved finishing Encased in Concrete 88 until the last moment I will be working very hard for the next month and a half to get it done in time for the concrete to cure before it is time to install the piece at the museum. I also need to up date my web-site and design post card for the event. Busy, busy, busy...

Five More Done
Today, these five mosaic pieces (picture taken before grouting) moved outside. Yay. That makes a total of 9 of the 22 mosaic pieces for Encased in Concrete 88 done. I began working on the next 5 to be mosaicked today, and worked until I ran out of broken tile.
So, when I get back to work on Wednesday, I have to start my day breaking tile into small pieces. I've already gathered some used floor tile from a local tile shop and tile scraps left from tiling the bathroom at one of my daughters homes to start with. So far I'm not having to buy any new tile and hoping I can make it to the end of the project using only used or salvaged tile.

Encased in Concrete 88
This is a photo of my breaking block. I just pull up a stool and break tile with a hammer. It is a great way to get out some built up tension. Today I finished three more mosaic pieces, and started tiling three more. Tomorrow, I'm taking the day off to watch my grandson play basketball. More on Sunday!
